Ten Step Shed Building

Tens Steps to Building with Shed Plans

You’ve finally made the decision to build a storage shed in you backyard. You’ve already shopped around but don’t really like any of the sheds that are readily available. You don’t like the prices that much either. Here’s the good news. You can build from shed plans even if you have limited carpentry skills. All you really need is some good shed plans with easy to follow and easy to understand instructions. There are 10 steps to building using shed plans.

Step One

Is to determine where you want to build it. You need to have a designated area planned out before you begin. The space you have available will determine the maximum size you can build.

Step Two

Once you know your exact size it’s a good idea to rough sketch what you want. There are many home improvement stores that you can take your sketch to. Some building supply stores will draft up your storage shed plans for you, according to the specs you provide them with. They will also supply you with a list of materials that you will require.  In addition they will provide you with a guide on how to perform each step. There are also online companies that will sell you shed plans with easy to follow instructions and complete materials lists. My Shed Plans offers 12000 woodworking and shed plan designs.

Step Three

Purchase the materials you will need as outlined in your shed plan. It’s a good idea to have everything at hand so you don’t have to keep running out for supplies once you start construction.

Step Four

Now you are ready to start. Level your ground and prepare to lay the foundation. You would have already decided whether you are going to have a wood plank floor or concrete slab type.

Step Five

After the foundation you will build the shed side walls. Put aside the materials that you will need for this. It is easier to build the walls on the ground then lift them into position once they are together. Just follow your shed plan for the how to instructions.

Step Six

Now it’s time to start on the roof. You will need to build your trusses. So construct one and then use it as a template for the rest. Once again follow your shed building plans on how to build the trusses.

Step Seven

Your storage shed should now be taking shape. It’s time to build the end walls. How you do this will depend on what shed plan you chose. Be sure to stay with your original plans.

Step Eight

Now you are getting down to the final steps. The trim is just as important as the rest of your structure. It’s what gives it that finished look so don’t scrimp here.

Step Nine

Putting a roof on the shed is the next step. Normally tar paper or an equivalent underlayment is placed first and then your choice of roofing materials on top. Be very careful with this the roofing step. A good job will give you years of shed life and a poor job will cause aggravation and extra expense in the future.

Step Ten

The final step is to paint the shed. Pick the coating material that is best for your area. Varnish looks nice on a wood building but may have to be redone on a yearly basis. You want to pick a paint that will protect your shed from the elements and also look good for years.

There is one final stage to shed building. This step is the culmination of all your efforts. You’ve picked your shed plan, bought the materials, and have built your shed. Now it’s time to load the shed up with your garden tools, mower or whatever!

Off the Grid

Can Anyone Live Off The Grid?

When you talk about alternative energy and living off the grid, a lot of people feel instantly that they will have to give up most of their modern amenities to live in such a fashion. Many more think this is an endeavor solely for granola loving hippies, whose modest ways coincide with fewer technologies, TVs, ACs, etc. The truth is, living off the grid is a possibility open to anyone. Granted, you may have a larger investment if you are powering three chest freezers and all high-energy appliances, but this would simply mean you need a larger system.

The increased demand for renewable energy technology has led to the development of more efficient and easy to use components to make living off the grid a reasonable option for anyone willing to be mindful of their energy consumption.

Using renewable energy sources to produce electricity is a fairly simple process. You need a power source-sun, wind or water-from which you will harness a low voltage direct current that is then converted, using an inverter, into usable house current (AC). Excess current generated by your system is stored in battery banks where it can be retrieved during more high demand times or times when the direct energy source is unavailable.

Living off the grid with renewable power resources is almost completely automated as well. Except for the maintenance of your batteries, there is almost no special attention needed, other than monitoring your energy use to make sure you do not exceed your supply with your demand. The key to success in living off the grid is making sure you size your system to meet the demand of your energy needs.

Living off the grid can be an exhilarating experience. The feeling of energy freedom is like no other and you can be proud of your efforts to combat global warming and best of all, you may never have to worry about a power outage again. It is important to conduct your research and determine which alternative energy sources will work best for you in your geographical area, but it is definitely worthwhile to learn how to live off the grid and feel the rush of freedom being off the grid can give.

Counting Calories

Belly Flab Doesn’t Go Away When You’re Counting Calories

If you’re counting calories to lose belly flab, stop the madness! Calorie counting is time consuming, depressing and completely unnecessary. Don’t get too excited though. Just because you don’t need to count calories, doesn’t give you a free pass to pig-out on pizza and French fries whenever you want. You still have to be mindful of what you eat if you want to lose weight.

fat burning methodsHere’s the thing: when you eat a bunch of processed junk, not only are you loading up on toxins, you’re taking in way more calories than your body can use. What do you think happens to all of those extra calories? Bingo. They get stored in your body as fat.  It’s almost impossible to lose weight while munching on processed foods.

Even if you exercise regularly, eating a bunch of nonsense foods will make it tough to create the kind of calorie deficit you need to get rid of the blubber around your midsection. If you really want to burn enough calories for killer abs, fill your diet with natural foods that contain protein, healthy fats and fiber.

When I say “natural foods,” I mean foods that have not been processed or filled with unhealthy additives. Natural foods are low in calories; if you stick to reasonable portion sizes during your meals and snacks, you won’t have to spend the rest of your existence keeping tabs on your caloric intake.  Counting calories doesn’t make you lose weight.

Healthy Sources of Dietary Fat

Dietary fat catches a lot of flack and is often accused of being the culprit of heart disease. This is absolutely not the case; fat is not the enemy. In fact, any good eating plan should include fat from quality sources like olive oil, fish oil, nuts, seeds, unrefined coconut oil, organic raw butter, avocados and natural grass-fed beef. Healthy fats help with nutrient absorption and can improve the health of your heart. Also, fat helps you feel satiated. When you add it to your meals, you are less likely to overindulge.  If you don’t overindulge you’ll lose weight.

Healthy Carbohydrate Sources

If most of the carbohydrates in your diet come from refined sources like white bread, pasta, baked goods, processed snacks and sugar, you can forget about losing stomach flab. These types of foods absorb quickly in the body and trigger the rapid release of insulin. When insulin is released too fast, it can give you the munchies shortly after you’ve already eaten.  The bulk of your carbohydrates should come from complex sources like vegetables, beans, legumes and fruits. These foods are rich in fiber so they digest slowly and keep you full much longer than refined carbs.

Healthy Sources of Protein

Protein triggers the release of a hormone called glucagon, which acts as an appetite suppressant. In fact, studies suggest that diets rich in protein can enhance fat loss when it is combined with the proper amounts of exercise. Eat nuts, legumes, grass-fed beef, free range poultry and organic eggs to get enough protein in your diet.

You don’t have to count calories to lose flab in your midsection. Simply dump the processed foods and replace them with natural foods that are rich in protein, healthy fat and complex carbohydrates. Of course, if you want consistent weight loss results, you have to exercise regularly.  Exercise and good healthy living will get you the weight loss results you need!

Weight loss doesn’t have to be a lifelong struggle. The Diet Solution Program will get you on the right track and keep you there. Watch my video for a quick overview of how we can help you lose belly flab and stop counting calories.
